Happy Half Birthday!

While you usually only see one really cute picture of Addison smiling,
here is how picture taking usually goes:
"Another one of THESE pictures?"

Dad knows how to make her happy.

"I'm six months old!"

"Oh, look at the pretty bed"

"Mom, you can hang out here...but I'm going to play!"

Addison is SIX MONTHS. That seems so big...she turned 6 months old this month, and I turned 26... In my "plan" I honestly didn't see myself having a baby at this point in my life, and if you were to ask me when I did see myself having a baby I honestly don't know what I would have said...but 26 probably would not have been my answer. As I sit watching her on her video monitor, putting on her own little variety show instead of sleeping, I am so thankful for the six months that I have been blessed and privileged to be her mother. Even though times like this I am tempted to think (and often do), "what did I do wrong? why isn't she sleeping? her waketime is going to be all messed up now" (haha, typing it it seems silly, I know) I marvel at all the things she is laying there doing and can't help but smile and even laugh at her straining her neck to check the door, unvelcroing her half swaddle, pulling that swaddle off, rubbing her eyes, playing with her bumper, and rolling back and forth and sideways to end up wherever she wants to in her crib. She is growing so fast and learning so much...it is simply amazing and humbling what God has entrusted Brad and I with! Here is what Addison has been up to in her six month:
  • says "mumumumumu" when she cries. I know it has no meaning, but to a mother's ears it sounds like she is crying for her mommy...
  • has two teeth that are starting to come in (this was actually a five month thing, I just forgot to put it), but are not in completely yet.
  • wants everything that Brad and I eat, and especially our drinks - she will drink out of my water glass as much as I will let her
  • sleeping through the night again...YEAH!
  • sits up well on her own, but still tips if anything happens (like a sneeze from someone two blocks away). :)
  • loves all of her toys
  • will sit contentedly in our laps if we go out to dinner...huge success!
  • hates being strapped into her carseat
  • smiles at anyone that will pay attention to her
  • anticipates what will happen next when we are playing with her, or getting her up from a nap
  • is so full of personality...so much fun to watch
  • has started reaching for me when she wants me to take her or pick her up
  • drinks her bottles faster than any baby I've ever seen.
  • smiles EVERY time Brad comes home from work - she could be in the middle of tears and this little girl lights up to see her daddy.
  • wakes up and will play in her crib for long periods of time
  • is very alert and interested in everything going on around her

Like I said earlier, month six has been SOOO much fun. She is at such a fun stage. It is so wonderful getting to know her more and more each month and finding out new things about her little personality.

  1. I love the pictures! It reminds me of how hard it was to get "cute" pictures of Caroline! She sounds like she is doing fabulous!
